Thought that the federal agencies aimed at legislating “fairness” in Ayn Rand’s novel, Atlas Shrugged, were far-fetched? Well how about the Office of Minority and Women Inclusion? According to CNSNews.com, the financial regulation package passed by the House calls for the OMWI to perform “diversity” oversight at major federal financial regulatory agencies.

…each of the major federal financial regulators is hiring enough minorities and women, and contracting with enough minority-owned and women-owned businesses.
Diversity czars overseeing each agency would define “enough.” From the CNS story:
In fact, each new diversity chief will be responsible for developing quota-like guidelines proscribing the ethnic and gender makeup of each regulator’s workforce, including upper management.
If we thought that the last forty years of “affirmative action” put American businesses through holy hell while achieving nothing productive either for business or minorities and women, we ain’t seen nuttin’ yet. Now that the Senate has passed the House bill and the legislation has become law, not only will every bank and financial institution be dogged by the feds for level of “risk” to investors and depositors, but the entire private financial sector will be constantly hawked by feds counting minority and female employees at all levels in all companies to make sure that some bureaucrat’s notion of “enough” minorities and women is being fulfilled.
From the Chris Dodd/Barney Frank bill (HR 4173):
The Director of each Office shall develop and implement standards and procedures to ensure, to the maximum extent possible, the fair inclusion and utilization of minorities, women, and minority-owned and women-owned businesses in all business and activities of the agency at all levels, including in procurement, insurance, and all types of contracts.
Big brother on steroids.
The federal government will partner with schools and universities to force private sector financial institutions to hire not according to merit and qualifications, but according to race and gender. Affirmative action on steroids.
Here we have the postmodern progressive mentality on grand display. Affirmative action has been a miserable failure in “helping” minorities and women. The response? Minorities and women must be forced into more jobs. Why? The generally miserable postmodern progressive desperately wants to feel good–somehow. Gotta “help” the “oppressed” even if helping doesn’t help. Faux-help creates real feel-good.
So then, the heck with reality. Full speed ahead. Turbo-charge that failed old affirmative action. The fact that existing “helping” programs like Welfare, legalized abortion, affirmative action, reduced education standards, and worthless education overspending have dragged minorities down for decades is no reason not to try yet more of the same failed policies.
After all, The One rules the land. All previously-failed “helping” programs will now succeed, wildly, for sure.
Representatives and senators who voted for the financial reform legislation, and of course Barack Obama, seem to think that Americas’ investments will be safer when managed by people who were crow-barred into jobs according to racial and gender preferences rather than people who were sought out and hired according to expertise. Anyone uncomfortable with the whole idea is thinking more clearly that the congress-people that voted for the reform monstrosity.
